Town of Seymour ADU Regulations

April 5, 2023 - The Town of Seymour has updated their ADU regulations. An Accessory Dwelling Unit is defined as a separate dwelling unit that is 1.) Is located on the same lot as the Principal Dwelling of greater square footage, 2.) Has at least a food preparation area, sleeping area and bathroom and 3.) Town of Seymour Planning and Zoning Regulations

  • Consider the impact of permitted land uses on contiguous municipalities and on the planning region.
  • Address significant disparities in housing needs and access to educational, occupational, recreational, and other opportunities.
  • Promote efficient review of land use applications.
  • Affirmatively further, the purposes of the Federal Fair Housing Act that prohibits housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.
  • Allow consideration to the physical site characteristics of the district and its peculiar suitability for uses.
  • Expressly allow the development of housing which will meet the housing needs identified in the state housing plan.
